Correction about numbers of Australian indigenous languages spoken - there are still about 170 languages spoken today. It is thought that in about 30 years, there will only be 20 to 25 languages still being spoken because many have less than 100 speakers. Thanks Liz for keeping us honest... ;-) 2 hours ago -

Hey Carnsey! I heard you on Vision Radio Network this morning. You sounded really clear, confident, and approachable. You should become a radio announcer after the Walk! 10 hours ago -

We love clouds - Sav
Our first day of walking was sunny and hot.
Since then however, we've basically walked under heavy cloud cover with a cool breeze and refreshing drizzle - for EIGHT days straight!!! Unbelievable.
Everyone kept telling us that this was SO untypical for this time of year - north Queensland can be hot and humid.
Walking an average of 30km a day, you can imagine how thankful we were for the unusually cool weather, but we knew that our good fortune would have to come to an end sooner or later..

We took a wrong turn!!! - Sav
As we walked out of Ingham, the unthinkable happened!
Deep in conversation, we simply followed the main street south as it swung around to the right and we kept on walking.
1km. 2km. 3km. 4km. Dave commented how quiet it was on the road - not as many trucks as other days - and we were really enjoying it. But still the penny didn't drop.
5km. 6km. 7km. 8km. And then there was a road sign ... but it wasn't the sign we were hoping for. Yikes.
As soon as we realised we were on the wrong road, it all made sense, but we hadn't noticed the wrong turn.
After taking a few minutes to crash out on the grass by the side of the road and come to terms with the consequences of the error of our ways, we got a lift back into town and had to start all over again - on the right road.
We had walked 8km for NOTHING. Read more... We took a wrong turn!!! -
Beach Sand, Gympites and Surprise Blessings - Dave
At 10am yesterday, despite numerous attempts over a number of months to organise a meeting in Cardwell, we didn't have even a hint of a meeting. Nothing had come from the letters, emails or phone calls that had been made in the months leading up to the walk. Nothing had come from the numerous inquires made by our contacts in neighbouring towns over the last few weeks. Nothing had even come from the last ditch effort and ring around on Sunday night after the very successful Tully meeting, so we had basically written-off Cardwell as a non-event, however, the Lord had other plans.
